We at Manhattan Ford in New York, NY already feel our current line up of Ford Fusion models is setting the sedan bar higher, when compared to the competition. But just when we thought Fusion couldn't get better, the American auto maker introduced their 2013 concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Ford took design queues from the European Mondeo midsize sedan when coming up with this Fusion concept. With the addition of sleeker angles and new tech inside, Fusion might just turn into one of Ford's best sellers. The updated car shares a grille with new Fiesta and Focus models, and its roofline "forms a graceful line back toward the trunk."1
Upgrades to the powertrain are also seen on board Ford's Fusion concept for 2013. A 1.6 liter, as well as 2.0 liter, direct injection and turbocharged Ecoboost engine will help in maximizing fuel efficiency. The 1.6-liter will (reportedly) produce 179 horsepower, while the 2.0 liter comes out with 237 horsepower.
Fusion Hybrid also receives a switch up of engines: 2.5 liters are available, attached to the lithium-ion battery system. Expect 47 mpg in the city, 45 mpg highway. Lastly, a plug-in is rumored, using the Energi system, earning an EPA rating of 100 MPGe.
