If you like to catch the news on your way into work, or whenever you're driving your car, Ford has just the thing for you. Thanks to its partnership with NPR, there is a new app being released by NPR for smartphones and onboard car systems such as the FordSync system.
Last year, AppLink was created for 2011 Ford Fiesta owners, which can interface and control vehicle-tailored apps. NPR is now included in AppLink's mix. The news organization can utilize Ford's Sync API free, to create interactive and informative content.
"What I'm most excited about is that we're taking what all of you have experienced on your smartphones, and have turned it into a personalized experience where you can get the data, the content, and the programming that you want at your fingertips," commented Doug VanDagens, Ford's global director of connected services.1
This system really puts control in the users hand. No more rushing home to catch the 6 o'clock news, because you can access it any time when you create a playlist similar to an iTunes lists. You simply select topics that interest you such as: political news, comedy, sports, etc. No matter where you are in the country, you will have access.
AppLink is now available on most Ford models; come check them out at Manhattan Ford in New York, NY.
