Ford Mustang Shelby GT Hits 200 MPH

According to Shelby, their 2013 GT500 Ford Mustang will reach a top speed of 200 MPH and remain street legal. We're not sure how that is possible with a 650-horsepower V8, but the people at Manhattan Ford in New York, NY can't wait to get their hands on one!
"Engineers say [Mustang] will just top 200 mph, but will be street legal -- and tame enough in traffic to be your daily driver, as well as weekend racer. The current Shelby GT500 is electronically limited to 155 mph. The new one is not limited."1
We have to ask - will a daily driver handle all that power: "Years ago, that may have been a concern," one Ford engineer stated. "But now with all the technology in these cars ... they are extremely safe to drive."2 It seems like Shelby has all the answers, wish they would explain how a fast car won't be limited in its top speed.
Next year's Shelby Mustang will have a redesigned front end, with updated hood and lighting, including high-intensity headlights. Don't think you can handle the GT500? Ford's regular Mustang V8 also hits 420 horses. All powertrain options will be matted to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, accessible via button on the car's shifter.
Shelby's current GT500 starts at $49,605. Expect the 50th anniversary edition to stick in that $50,000 arena, with many add-ons available.
