The race in the EV segment is on. And, Manhattan Ford isn't just talking about which automaker can produce the biggest assortment of EV vehicles most quickly. Rather, we're referring to which one can produce the most fuel-efficient EV. Ford has one idea of who will do that: themselves.

For those of you who haven't heard, the Blue Oval is in the midst of putting the finishing touches on an all-new Ford Focus EV, which is already available for preorder in select markets across the U.S. Deliveries are officially slated to begin next year. And, according to Ford, it will be the first vehicle ever to supersede the notorious 100 mpg-e threshold.

Do we think Ford can do it? Absolutely! In fact, we're quite looking forward to seeing it overshadow the LEAF's 100 mpg-e and the Volt's 94 mpg-e. Manhattan Ford should also mention, when it comes to class-leading efficiency, Ford isn't cutting their efforts short with the Focus EV. The American automaker claims that its future CUV range dubbed Ford C-MAX will trounce its competitors' MPG-e ratings as well.

In addition to setting the new Focus EV apart with paramount fuel economy, Ford  is also giving it a leg-up with an unheard-of charging time. Specifically, Ford alleges the Focus EV can be charged in half the time it takes the LEAF. Let's see... leading fuel economy and super-fast charging time. Seems like the Ford Focus EV is the best option for drivers seeking to end their relationship with gas pumps and do their part to preserve the world for generations to come.

As much as we're focusing on the new Ford Focus EV; it is, however, important to realize it is just one example of a larger initiative at Ford.
